Empathy, persuasiveness and knowledge promote innovative engineering and entrepreneurial skills

An increasing number of experts considers that durable skills are needed to prepare the professionals will tackle challenges 21st century. However, a clear overview which most relevant for specific learning outcomes has not been reached. In this work, we present simplified conceptual framework training engineers be more innovative and entrepreneurial. We introduce three core components or ingredients: knowledge, persuasiveness empathy. These ingredients can used initiate necessary shift in how students educated fields science, technology, engineering, mathematics. A Challenge Based Learning context is proposed developing empathy as skills. also six-step procedure guideline turn persuasiveness, into actionable items. This enriches toolbox needs taught during educational process, professional practice (chemical) engineers. propose explicitly teach importance people-oriented combination with technical courses, ideally spreading focus over whole curricula.
